Burton Court’s history and heritage is not set in stone, instead it is constantly being updated and rediscovered through the active detective work of research and archaeology.
Every Tuesday morning for the last seven years the group have been busy working on unravelling the long history of the Manor of Burton through Archaeological research. This included a study of the architectural changes that had occurred, excavations on the mound to the west of the present structure together with a study of the landscape and buildings around the Court. After achieving a huge milestone in publishing ‘A Case Study of Burton Court’ work still continues under the new name of Eardisland History Group.
